I've been hooked on health most of my life.
In the spring of 2016, at the request of my mom who has Parkinson’s and Post-Polio, I spoke to a group of Sun City (SC) residents with chronic conditions about how to thrive in the midst of adversity. On our way back to Houston, my husband and I felt led to move to Georgetown to be closer to our remaining parents. Three months later, we were in our Sun City home!
Since moving, I have continued to work, now parttime, in employee assistance, counseling, consulting and disaster response. I have also embraced the Georgetown community by volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and with the Caring Place and BiG, being active with SC Women Helping Others and as a member of Hill Country Bible Church. I am a Lifetime Member of Weight Watchers having maintained the 40-pound weight loss I achieved over 30 years ago. Since moving to Georgetown, I have had shoulder, back and multiple dental surgeries. I am more empathetic and encouraging because of my own health challenges. My life’s work in both mental health counseling and health and wellness coaching gives me the unique ability to understand and empower my clients.
After donating a gift certificate for Health and Wellness coaching to support a local non-profit, being part of my client/donor’s progress sparked my desire to launch Hooks on Health.
